Nutritional Assessment Screen
(screen # 350)

This screen is used to enter or change nutritional assessment information.

The nutritional assessor calculates a condition (e.g. Malnourished, Overweight, Underweight etc.) for a patient based on the patient's age, weight, height, stress, and injury levels, based solely upon the TPN Manager Software Nutrition Assessment Calculation equations, to determine what the ideal body weight, adjusted body weight, resting energy expenditure, estimated energy expenditure, recommended calorie range, recommended protein range, and recommended fluid range are for the patient.  These parameters can then be used to assist in the assessment of how well the proposed TPN Orders will meet the patient's needs.  The user should only use this Nutrition Assessment Calculator tool if they are comfortable and in agreement with the calculation equations used by this program in the calculation of energy expenditure and nutrient requirements.

The Condition Assessment, Ideal Body Weight, % Ideal Body Weight, and Adjusted Body Weight are calculated only for patients whose height is 60 inches or taller.

To add a nutritional assessment, first review the data in the Current Patient Record Information box; if it needs adjustment, either click the "Edit Patient Record" link to make changes to the patient's record or update the information in the "Patient Information for the Assessment" section which will apply just to the current assessment only.  Enter an appropriate title for the assessment, ensure that the injury factor, stress factor, and lipid calories percentage are set correctly for the patient being assessed, then click Update Assessment.
