Patient Type Detail Screen
(screen # 171)

This screen is used to enter or change patient type configuration information.

To add a new patient type, enter the information into the screen form.  The screen data entry form fields and specific instructions are described below.

Screen Data Entry Fields:

Required Data Entry Field

Patient Type Name

  Description:

Patient Type descriptive name

  Type :

Text, 30 characters maximum

  Default Value :

None
Specifics :  The name that will be listed when creating a new patient.
Example :  "Neonate"

Required Data Entry Field

Age Range

  Description:

Patient Age Range applicable to Patient Type

  Type :

Numeric, 0 to 999 Years

  Default Value :

None
Specifics :  Enter the expected age range for this patient type.
Example:  "0 Years, 0 Months, 0 Days to 999 Years, 0 Months, 0 Days"

Patient Age Default Units for this Patient Type

Specifics :  Select the default age settings for a new patient record of this type.

  Description:

Patient Weight Default Units for this Patient Type

  Type :

Multiple Choice (0, 1, 2, or 3)

Metric (Kg) Units, 1 Decimal Place
Specifics :  Specifics : Select the default weight settings for a new patient record of this type.  The decimal places value applies to the patient weight only (both Kg and Lbs).  Patient weight for this patient type, whenever it is displayed or printed, will be presented using the selected number of decimal places.
Examples:  Metric Kg Units, Decimal Places 3: "1.435 kg"; Metric Kg Units, Decimal Places 1: "143.5 kg"

Specifics :  Determines if the electrolyte summary totals are to include contributions from base component(s) that are present in the TPN order.

Order Volume Calculations Control

  Description:

Include piggyback solution in calculations

  Type :

Yes/No

  Default Value :

Specifics :  Determines how volumes are calculated when piggyback solutions are ordered. 
  When “Order Volume Calculations: Include Piggyback Solution” is selected, the calculations will function as follows:  When entering a solution using a per unit volume method (i.e. /mL, /100mL, or /Liter, units), the solution volume calculation will include the total solution volume being delivered to the patient, including the solution volume contributed by the piggyback solution.  Please note that the entered Infusion Volume does not Include the piggyback solution volume. 
  When “Order Volume Calculations: Include Piggyback Solution” is NOT selected, the calculations will function as follows:  The solution Primary Bag volume calculation, and its associated “per volume” calculations, will include only those solution volumes being delivered to the patient in the Primary Bag.  This volume will not include the solution volume contributed by the piggyback solution.  The solution Piggyback Bag volume calculation, and its associated “per volume” calculations, will include only those solution volumes being delivered to the patient in the Piggyback Bag.  This volume will not include the solution volume contributed by the Primary Bag solutions.

Specifics :  Determines if a prompt to review the patient weight will appear.

Infusion Rate Decimal Places

  Description:

Number of decimal places to use for infusion rates

  Type :

Multiple choice

  Default Value :

Specifics :  Determines how many decimal places will shown for infusion rates when they are displayed on screen or printed.

The number of decimal places is determined by this setting in combination with the infusion rate according to this table.

Authorized Personnel

  Description:

Personnel Authorized to Access this Patient Type

Specifics :  There are two columns for Authorized Personnel:  The "Create" column determines which users can create patients of this type.  The "Use" column is the default setting that determines who can access the patient record after it has been created.  Note that the Authorized Personnel listed are personnel groups, not individual personnel, and that the personnel groups and the personnel group membership must be established before Authorized Personnel can be selected for a patient type.

Specifics :  These are the TPN Order Formula Templates that will be available for new orders for this patient type.  Note that the Formula Template(s) must be established before these settings can be chosen.
