Additive Solution Detail Screen
(screen # 141)

This screen is used to enter or change additive solution configuration information.

To add a new additive solution, enter the information into the screen form.  The screen data entry form fields and specific instructions are described below.

To remove an additive solution from use, it can be either deleted entirely or temporarily disabled.   The additive solution cannot be deleted if it is in use by any active TPN orders.  The additive solution can always be disabled, and disabling the additive solution will prevent the use of the additive solution in any currently active orders.

Indicates if the additive solution is available for use

Specifics:  Additive Solutions that are Enabled generally indicates that the additive solution is available for use in TPN orders.  Disabling an additive solution makes it unavailable for use in TPN orders.

Solution Name

  Description:

Additive Solution descriptive name

Specifics:  This is the name of the additive solution as it will appear on the order entry screens.  The name should describe the additive solution and should include the solution concentration to differentiate it from other similar additive solutions.
Example:  "Calcium Chloride"

Specifics :  This is the name of the additive solution as it will printed on the prescription label.  If no name is entered, the Solution Name will be printed on the prescription label.

Specifics:  This setting determines how the additive is printed on the TPN final container label.  The options are:
   "List Individually" - All of the ordered additives are listed on the final container label.
   "Electrolyte Summary" - Only a summary of the electrolyte content is printed on the final container label.

Specifics :  This is the minimum volume that is allowed to be compounded with the PINNACLE™ Compounder.   Volumes lower than this value will be designated for Manual (e.g., syringe) delivery.  If desired by the user, this value may be increased if necessary based on the characteristics of the additive solution.

Specifics :  Enter the aluminum content of the additive solution.  This value will be used to calculate the TPN final aluminum content.  If you do not enter a value here, aluminum checking will be unavailable.

Specifics :  Select the patient type(s) that should be allowed to use this additive solution.  Only patients of these types will be able to order this additive solution in TPN prescriptions.  See also: Patient Types Screen .

Bar Code Numbers

Applicable Solution Confirmation Bar Code Numbers for this Additive Solution

Specifics:  Lists the allowed Solution Confirmation Bar Code Numbers for products that can be used for this additive component solution.   Enter all compatible Solution Confirmation Bar Code Numbers, separated by commas or new lines.  Solution Confirmation Bar Code Numbers can be NDC numbers, GTIN bar codes, or other identification numbers.  NDC numbers require 10 digits, only, and may include an additional two dashes.  When compounding, any source solution listed can be used to satisfy a request for this additive solution.
Example:  "0409-1130-02,02611-943-20, 54643-5649-0"

Specifics:  Lists the allowed Order Bar Code Drug ID Numbers for products that can be used for this additive component solution.   Enter all compatible Order Bar Code Drug ID Numbers, separated by commas or new lines.  Order Bar Code Drug ID Numbers can be DIN codes, GTIN bar codes, or other identification numbers.  DINs require 11 digits, only, and may include an additional two dashes.  A DIN number can be used in a Order Program Bar Code to use this additive solution.

Electrolyte Content

Additive Solution Electrolyte Content

Specifics :  This is the additive component solution electrolyte content, as specified by the solution manufacturer.  There are seven standard electrolytes (Na+ mEq, K+ mEq, Ca++ mEq, Mg++ mEq, CL- mEq, PO4= mmol, and AC- mEq) that are tracked by default.  Additional ions and standard ions in alternate units will be listed only if their content value is nonzero.  When entering in mEq, mmol, umol, mol, gm, mg, or mcg units the content values may be entered using only one type of units.  Automatic conversions are provided for mEq, mmol, umol, mol, gm, mg, and mcg units for electrolytes that have the same name.  You can change the available electrolytes using the Add or Edit the Available Electrolytes link.

Specifics :  Specifies the allowed compounder pumping stations for this additive solution.  Select an appropriate setting from the Station Group list, if possible.  To add a new station group, make up a Station Group descriptive name and enter the allowed pump station range.  The Station Group can also be configured using the Pump Stations screen.
